About the role
you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, helping to ensure the delivery of exceptional dining experiences for our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Chef in leading and coordinating the kitchen team to execute high-quality food preparation and presentation
- Ensure effective planning, stock control and rostering to enable smooth kitchen operations
- Provide guidance, training and mentorship to kitchen staff to develop their skills and capabilities
- Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop and refine the menu, incorporating seasonal and locally-sourced ingredients
- Maintain strict food safety and hygiene standards in compliance with regulations
- Assist with managing kitchen budgets and inventory to drive operational efficiencies
Requirements:
- Minimum 1-5 years' experience as a Chef or equivalent role in a fast-paced restaurant or hospitality environment
- Formal culinary qualification (e.g. Certificate in Culinary Arts) and excellent practical cooking skills
- Strong leadership abilities and the talent to inspire and motivate a team
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality and food safety
- Sound knowledge of current food trends, dietary requirements and industry best practices
- Excellent time management, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
- Positive, collaborative attitude and the ability to work well under pressure
- Must have the rights to work in NZ
- Must have a willingness to cook all aspects of cooking
